Grasping At Straws

Children have drowned in buckets and toilets.

You are the straw that would break my camel.

Traversing the desert hundreds of days.

No food, no water, just an oasis.

Illusion of friendship always denied.

Grasping at, clutching an unreal image.

Abandoned when I needed forlorn hope.

The rest, they’ve forgotten. You’re not the first.

Only a parallel string universe.

My days are reminders of what I lack.

And my nights are relief until I wake.

I am falling behind, finishing last.

It’s time to be done; no future with smiles.

I’m so hungry, but my appetite fails.

Starving for fulfillment I’ll never have.

Embrace the end, there is nothing beyond.

Release will come when the coward is slain.

Learning how to let go, with no regrets.

Alleviate the pain and suffering.

Nobody sees the weight that crushes me.

Behind the wall of fake smiles and lies.

Internal reflections of what will come.

The calm of my descent from the living.

Consequences considered, not abrupt.

Minimize the disruption of impact.

For once I will be happy all alone.

Just to breathe

Just to breathe, I would give up all your love.

Choking from smothering, I need freedom.

Cut a hole in my throat to make loud words.

Allow me to speak with thoughts in my mind.

Let us communicate, talk it all out.

The deadly silence creeps into my ears.

Ominous, foreboding, pictures of us.

Placed upon the mantle, fangs and teeth bared.

Skin peeling back, faces falling off.

A poor affair to show our families.

Yellowed eyes show alternate solutions.

A stream once tread becomes the sea, drowning.

Oceans of despair, whirlpool destruction.

Collapses upon itself, consumes death.

Central passage that leads to the wrong place.

Above the surface, weathered and fractured.

Desquamation weathering

Worn from the years. A tale of history.

Softness concealed by the winds of ages.

Fissure in the rock, better than a clock.

Showing time passed and the effects of life.

Sand castles drowned, or blown away in gusts.

Never to be found, only ash and dust.

Man created fire, and it burned him.

Experience of betrayal saddens.

Let me fall to pieces, and rest the same.

Friends: Forgotten, Imagined, Unreal

To see my friend, invisible like me.

We spend our time floating on the ocean.

Waiting for a wave to take us away.

Or maybe you’ll find us inside hiding.

A closet for shelter from the mad world.

We built a treehouse with shelter to spare.

Just in case anyone wants to join us.

A complete circle, no chants or verses.

Open membership, but no one applies.

So I work through the days and cry at night.

I watch them all go home to laugh and smile.

As I stand outside freezing in the cold.

An icicle’s warmth melted by my heart.

Feet frozen by the fire, stoke some more.

Smoke signals rise, hope they come to rescue.

Beggar of the world. Don’t cheat, lie or steal.

Live it wrong, and you’ll start to smolder.

The chimney releases your warmth burden.

Inhale your last breath before you finish.

Blow out the plumes, see twisted faces there.

Not your friends, but demons, hauntings and ghosts.

Open your eyes, let them sting for water.

Sealed within the aquarium bubbles.

Swimming in circles, don’t let the fish die.

Let others enjoy your life just for once.
